You may have realized by now that tax service help is extremely limited this year due to COVID and volunteer availability. If you have been unable to secure an appointment with our tax counselors, here are some options for you:
- The Health & Welfare Council of Long Island's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (HWCLI's VITA) may be able to help you file your taxes online. Taxpayers will access this service from home and be contacted via phone and email to complete and finalize their return.
- You may be eligible for free virtual tax assistance through AARP Foundation Tax-Aide with special focus on taxpayers aged 50 or older or who have low to moderate income.
- The New York State Department of Taxation has partnered with Free File Alliance to file NYS taxes for free for qualified individuals.
- The Bethpage Federal Credit Union VITA Program is all virtual this year. They are hopeful they will be able to continue to assist many taxpayers in the community by collecting the necessary taxpayer information and documents online.
