Amateur Radio Field Day

Primary tabs

This is not a library sponsored event.

Purpose of Meeting

Amateur Radio Field Day is an annual event held in the USA and Canda. Radio operators set up radios and antennas in order to communicate with each other using the amateur radio frequency bands. The event is an emergency preparation exercise practicing and demonstrating the ability of radio amateurs to communicate within the USA, Canada, and also world wide. These communications take place on battery or generator power (off the electric grid) and without the use of internet or wires networks. They are a preparation for events that can take the worldwide communication grid down i.e. weather events, electric or communication failures, cyber terrorism. We look forward to educating the community regarding our services.
